Date Inquiries A Plenty
Dates are plentiful on a world wide basis, but it seems that people tend to resort to their local area to identify sources of date production. Apparently used based companies have been attempting to obtain local producers of dates to ship overseas. It does not seem like an out of the ordinary idea, except that overseas date orchards are cheaper to tend than US based orchards. Medjool dates do not do well in long distance shipping either, because the date is much softer than other dates and it is unlikely that the recipient will be happy with the end product received if shipped in bulk in large containers, by the time the medjool dates arrive they will not be very recognizable and are more likely to look like a poorly processed pasted. A tasty medjool date paste perhaps, but not a very pleasant appearing paste. Where Can I Buy Dates
Cheap Medjool Dates
Medjool dates in farmers markets often sell for as much as $10 a pound. The reason for why medjool dates are expensive is that medjool dates are simply hard to tend. Medjool dates require an awful lot of labor to get them to come out as big as they do. If there is little or no tending to the dates they will be much smaller than the jumbo dates. Cheap medjool dates can be had when the emphasis is not on the quality of the date. These lower quality medjool dates can be purchased in swap meets and in a few retailer outlets. Recently Costco started offering medjool dates. They appear to be decent, have not actually tried them, but they look decent. They are not as big as some other medjool dates I have seen, but they seem okay. Costco historically has sold high quality products, so it would be worth the risk, especially when you consider the price is only $3.95. That is not much higher than wholesale pricing available to other retailers. For medjool date lovers this is a windfall. For other’s it may be an opportunity to get hooked on medjool dates.
