Dates Fruit Medjool Dates

Visit To the Medjool Date Farm In August

I will be driving through highway 111.  Past Palm Desert and past Indian Wells, then Past La Quinta, and Finally past Indio.  Then you reach the land of medjool and deglet noor dates.  All along the way through Highway 111 you see medjool date palms on the side of the road.  At one time the Palm Desert and Indian Wells border had an awful lot of date palms.  These were date producing date palms and at least on occassion people would stop when they would hear a strange noise coming from their tires.  When they would get out of their cars they would discover that their tires had dates wedges on the tires.  The dates were often left on the date palms and not harvested so , eventually the dates would fall and I suppose it became somewhat of a nuisance.  Most of the medjool date palms and other date palms for that matter are female and can produce dates.  In the Coachella Valley and Arizona where it is desert it is highly likely that the date palms will produce dates, not so much in other areas.  The medjool date is gaining popularity because of its sweetness, but the nutritional content of dates is high.  Dates are good food.  The date calories are high quality calories because they are made from natural sugars not processed sugars.  Dates also have a lot of potassium and fiber.  It is too early for dates in August, but the dates should start to turn yellow.  The Medjool Dates should look particularly large because they are reaching their maximum size and they are much larger than any other type of dates.   I will probably lose a couple of pounds in sweat in a couple of hours at the date farm.  The temperature I am sure will exceed 100 degrees.  The mejdool dates love it as long as they have plenty of water.  For those that have to tend to the date palms, it must be a means of keeping fit, even though it is not likely that they are looking to keep fit.
