I was driving highway 111 through palm desert and then Indian wells. The streets where lined with date palms. Lots of very old tall date palms. Date palms can grow to about 120 years or more. I was enthusiastic about going to the medjool date farm, but only made it to La Quinta. It was just too hot, unbelievably hot. I lost my enthusiasm. I had seen the medjool dates were covered to protect them from rain, birds, and insects, but had no motivation to continue this day. I decided a nice long nap would be much more enjoyable than a trip to the medjool date farm. The date farm will be there next month when the first medjool dates start to come out.
