November is probably the beginning of the tourist season in palm springs. A lot of people come by the medjool date fields. They take pictures of the dates. Many go to a famous date store for date shakes. A few load up with tons of dates in preparation for Thanks Giving and Christmas. The cheap dates are probably purchase more often, but are not nearly as sweet as the medjool date. The medjool date is a real treat the other dates are really cheap gifts that often go uneaten. There is just not much kick to the other dates. The deglet noor and other dates are usually eaten as part of staple diet, not much different from bread. In any case the wealthy tourists that abound in the desert are often the cheapest. It is okay though, it helps keep the medjool dates in larger supply and therefore affordable.
