I was looking at a date palm down the street. There are few date palms down the street. There are those ugly little ones that are really more of a nuisance than anything else then a King Palm and finally a date palm. The King Palm has a beautiful trunk and looks relatively clean, but not much shade at all. The dwarf palm is just plain ugly. The date palm looks like a giant umbrella. I never really considered the fact that a well developed date palm provides a very dense shade a huge shade. The leaves are huge and you get an awesome shade. The fruit can be a nuisance, but not if you want to attract birds in which case you get a bonus.
