Sandy The Cat That Would Eat Anything

December 15th, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

One summer under the shade of the date palms I saw couple of kittens.  One of them was a pretty sandy color.  I tried to catch them, but they ran off and hide under a stack of wood.  Over the next few days I would leave food for them to eat.  Eventually their hunger was too much and they came to eat the food.   One of the kittens disappeared but the sandy one kept coming.  I approached her while she was eating until one day she let me touch her.  Finally she accepted that I was okay and would not hurt her.  By the third day she was comfortable.  I caught her and brought her in I fed her and gave her water and let her run around the house.   The next day I did not let her out.  The following day I let the door open and let free.  She walked out and came back for food, but never left.  She had been starved quite a bit.  I tested the extent of hunger by offering her a variety of foods.  She ate the watermelon, the medjool dates, a piece of candy, and even a piece of jalapeno pepper.  She was not a spoiled cat, she had grown accustomed to eating anything that was edible.  She had been driven to eating for survival.   After a couple of years she got spoiled and would only eat cat food and meats, even the medjool dates were not good enough for her anymore.    She was a beautiful feline.  I cried for her when she died from a weird disease.
