Early summer and late spring are actually the best times to plant date palm shoots. Date palms are grown from shoots not from seed. There is a proper way to cut the shoots, prepare them for transplanting, and planting them. It is a labor intensive process and time consuming. Another reason why dates tend to be pricey on a pound for pound basis. The fruit is very nutritious and probably offsets the cost on a pound per pound comparison. When compared to artificial snacks there is no comparison, dates are by far a better deal and much better for your health than any artificial snacks. So invest a little get your date palms and grow your dates, but only if your live in a hot climate, otherwise don’t waste your time trying to grow them it will not work.
