Kids Medjool Dates and Medjool Honey 08/23/2011

As great as medjool dates are they are not much different from other foods.  You may think they are just fruit, but if children are left alone they will go help themselves and the results may not be what expected.  You may find that your child is wearing theMedjool date on his hands, his nose, his cheeks, and around his lips.  The residue will have a nice oval shape around his mouth.  Basically if can’t be reached with your child’s tongue it will be left behind and form a little wall of date residue.  I found this out by personal observation.  Kids will feed themselves when hungry, it is what happens when you are too busy and lose track of time.  I am glad it was not Medjool date honey, because it would have left a much bigger mess as evidenced by the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches he made.  The moral of the story, put your dates in a safe, place if you don’t want to find them throughout your kitchen.
