Medjool Dates Fruit & Medjool Date Palm Trees » palms http://www.medjool-dates.com/blog Medjool Dates, Dates Dried Fruit, Dried Fruit, Fresh Fruit, Nutrition Sun, 05 Feb 2012 17:19:05 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.1 Harvest of Medjool Dates 2011 Is Almost Here http://www.medjool-dates.com/blog/2011/08/16/harvest-of-medjool-dates-2011-is-almost-here/ http://www.medjool-dates.com/blog/2011/08/16/harvest-of-medjool-dates-2011-is-almost-here/#comments Wed, 17 Aug 2011 04:13:22 +0000 Pina http://www.medjool-dates.com/blog/?p=293 As the harvest of medjool date approaches a lot of work goes into preparing the medjool date palms to insure a good harvest.   If the date palms are not properly prepared the workers complain.  The palms are not properly prepared if the thorns are not removed.  Another tedious labor intensive process, but they need to removed so when the green dates are removed to increase the quality of the fruit the workers are injured.  Sweat, blood and tears literally goes into the production of the fruit.  Retailers are charging up to about $6 a pound for dates and is for good reason a lot of effort went into the product of dates, people paid with the sweat of their labor and even their blood.   At least the date palms will soon be ready and the harvest will take place in a few weeks, out goes another batch of dates, hopefully they will bring a little pleasure to some date lovers.

GHTime Code(s): nc  ]]> http://www.medjool-dates.com/blog/2011/08/16/harvest-of-medjool-dates-2011-is-almost-here/feed/ 0 Views of Trees and Palms From The Fifth Floor http://www.medjool-dates.com/blog/2010/12/13/views-of-trees-and-palms-from-the-fifth-floor/ http://www.medjool-dates.com/blog/2010/12/13/views-of-trees-and-palms-from-the-fifth-floor/#comments Mon, 13 Dec 2010 19:13:27 +0000 Pina http://www.medjool-dates.com/blog/?p=190 From the fifth floor I can see the tree tops, the tops of palm trees, and lots of buildings.  Not the kind of view available in the Coachella Valley.  There are very few two story homes in the Coachella Valley and very few buildings with more than two floors and virtually no buildings with more than 4 floors.  For whatever reason only a few hotels have more than one floor and it is a rarity to find a commercial building with more than one two floors in the desert.  The views are nice from highway 74, but can’t get nice views from the valley.  This results in lower population density add the numerous golf courses, date palm orchards, citrus orchards, and the density drops even further.  We still get lots of traffic in the winter.  During the date festival Indio gets overwhelmed, but there is really a very low population density in the desert.
